VESTIGE
03. 10. – 16. 11. 2024
Václav Buchtelík (CZE)
Piotr Tadeusz Mosur (POL)
Vlastimil Nenadál (CZE)
Wojtek Radtke (POL)
Marek Schovánek (CZE, CAN)
Curator: Tomáš Koudela
The exhibition Vestige brings together the works of five artists, each of whom, in their own way, explores traces, imprints, and remnants of both the past and the present. While each artwork carries a distinct expression and approach, they are united by the theme of what endures – whether in the form of memories, emotions, or transformations of material and form.
Václav Buchtelík, Piotr Tadeusz Mosur, Vlastimil Nenadál, Wojtek Radtke and Marek Schovánek offer works that address themes of human existence, its fragility, and the constant passage of time. Some focus on historical or personal references, while others examine transient moments or shifts in form and material. Through various media, from painting to installation, they create spaces for reflection where the past meets the present, and where the imprints of past experiences intertwine with the world of today.
The title Vestige derives from the Latin word vestigium, meaning a trace or remnant. The exhibition reflects not only on what remains from the past but also on how this past transforms into the present, as interpreted by each artist through their unique creative language.
Vestige invites contemplation of what endures over time and space – whether on a personal, cultural, or material level – and how art can capture these invisible fragments that connect us to both the past and the future.
