ART-BRUT-ALL: TOO DARK TO SEE
This year's international exhibition ART-BRUT-ALL, organized as part of the Brutal Assault festival, bears the title TOO DARK TO SEE. This exhibition explores the concept of darkness and its presence in a world where, according to contemporary science, absolute darkness does not exist. There is always at least a minimal amount of light, even if the human eye cannot perceive it. Darkness remains a fascinating and enigmatic phenomenon.
According to Jan Marcus Marci of Kronland, darkness is a negative concept – something that does not exist and therefore cannot mix with what does exist. If darkness does not exist, then what is the meaning of darkness? The ancient Chinese believed that not even all the darkness in the world could extinguish the light of a single candle.
This exhibition showcases the works of artists who, among other things, engage with these ideas and visually interpret them.

The ART-BRUT-ALL exhibition is renowned for its focus on raw and authentic art, which transcends the boundaries between formal and informal art. The term "Art Brut" refers to untrained art created outside traditional art schools and academic circles, often incorporating elements of rawness and untamed nature. The ART-BRUT-ALL exhibition, a play on words referencing the Brutal Assault festival, emphasizes this informal and authentic approach to art, reflected in both music and visual art.
The ART-BRUT-ALL exhibition has been organized as part of the Brutal Assault festival since 2017.
